CRTC decision – licence amendment
FM93 in Québec City to feature even more spoken-word content
Montréal, August 22, 2012 – Cogeco Diffusion is delighted with today’s decision by the
Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in response to
the company’s recent application to amend the broadcasting licence of radio station
FM93 (CJMF-FM Québec). In the coming weeks, FM93 will announce a new program
schedule in line with this decision. FM93 belongs to Québec’s largest private network of
talk radio stations, with 98.5 FM in Montreal, 106.9 FM in Mauricie, 107.7 FM in Estrie
and 104.7 FM in Outaouais.
“We know that the talk format is more in line with our listeners’ concerns, and we want
listeners to FM93 in Québec City to also be able to enjoy a longer time slot for spoken-
word content in the evening and on weekends,” said Richard Lachance, Senior Vice-
President, Cogeco Diffusion. “This format, based on current affairs and the evolution of
the day’s news, strengthens the local roles of each of these stations while
simultaneously allowing them to benefit from the strength of our cross-Québec network.
Mr. Lachance continued: “Talk radio is reactive to breaking news, articulate and relevant,
drawing its impact from exchanges of ideas and opinions between on-air personalities,
their guests and listeners who call in. With this decision by the CRTC, listeners in
Québec City will be even better served in this area.”
