What a touching recognition for our company to be named one of the six 2020 Laureates of YMCA Peace Medals of YMCA du Québec, which honour citizens and businesses who contribute to building more united and harmonious communities. More specifically, Cogeco was awarded the Laureate Corporate Initiative for Peace, through the project "Operation Welcome Home", created in partnership with Centraide du Grand Montréal, with the goal of contributing to the successful integration of Syrian refugees in their host country.

Our colleagues from La Baie offered new coats worth more than $1,200 to people in precarious situations.

“At the clothing counter in La Baie, we offer basic necessities to the community at very low prices. With the rising cost of living, it is increasingly common to see families where adults have jobs seeking our services. That is why it is important to make these goods available to the entire population,” says Réal Lemire, president of the men’s council of the Société St-Vincent-de-Paul de La Baie.

Cogeco is proud to have been a partner of the concert A musical expression of support dedicated to the children of Ukraine, which took place at the Ritz Carlton in Montreal on April 2.

Organized by Unicef, this event presented an intimate, magnificent, melancholic and emotional program, imagined by Paul Merkelo, trumpet soloist of the OSM. He was accompanied by 20 accomplished artists, including members of the OSM.

The Carrefour jeunesse emploi de Beauce-Sud would like to thank Cogeco, which helped find an employment contract that allowed the young participants in the La Relève s’en Mêle entrepreneurial project to take on their first job during the summer.

As the start of the school year is upon us, Cogeco Connexion is delighted to offer an educational circuit to 15 schools across Quebec. Students will have the chance to experience an entertaining trail drawn on the pavement of their schoolyard, that will promote social distancing, fun with friends and physical activity.

The Montmagny public market had a nice surprise on August 7! Dorothée the Epicurean stopped in this beautiful region to shoot an episode of her cooking program on NousTV.

Cogeco and NousTV Alma donated 13 pairs of skates to Parenfant, to equip less fortunate families and allow them to enjoy this winter sport for free. The idea surfaced when the City of Alma announced the development of a huge new ice rink.

To respond to the situation of domestic violence against women and the needs expressed by various organizations supporting this cause, Cogeco Connexion donated a total of $14,000 in funding to 15 shelters for women victims of domestic violence in Quebec. Each establishment received a donation to meet existing operating needs.

“COVID has highlighted the increase in domestic violence against women. With this initiative, we want to underline their courage and bring a little relief to the women and their children who are currently staying in the shelters, ”explains Johanne Hinse, Vice President Programming and Community Relations at Cogeco Connexion.

Cogeco presents the project “Les arts dans la rue” (Art in the Streets) which will exhibit works created by the citizens of Beauce outdoors, until August 31st.

Cogeco Connexion was proud to partner with the Milton Chamber of Commerce for their 20th Annual Celebrity Sports Dinner at RattleSnake Point Golf Club. 

Participant enjoyed an evening with local celebrity athletes while supporting the Milton Chamber’s Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to numerous Milton high school students entering post-secondary education. 

We were proud to have contributed to this event that supports the next generation to pursue further education.

More than 500 employees of the city’s residential long-term care facilities received a dish prepared by take-out restaurant Goûtez Plan B that they could reheat at home. The project was undertaken in collaboration with the regional health foundation of Trois-Rivières.

Cogeco partnered with the Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) to present their inaugural “Students in the Spotlight” event, where students of all ages across Halton Region produced their own videos to virtually share their creativity. 

The event raised over $20,000 for HLF to enrich educational opportunities and eliminate obstacles to learning for students of the Halton District School Board.

Atlantic Broadband is proud to sponsor and support this valuable service provided by Freebee to residents and businesses in Miami Beach.

Cogeco Connexion and its NousTV stations in Quebec announced in April 2020 a donation of $ 37,500 to help fifteen food banks in the province. Across Quebec, this contribution allows organizations working in food security to distribute 112,500 additional meals.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cogeco Media and other Quebec broadcasters came together to support local economies and communities by joining the TOGETHER FOR QUEBEC movement, which urged Quebecers to buy online from local merchants.

More than ever, it is important to be involved with the communities in which we operate. The Centraide du Grand Montréal Emergency Fund is an initiative that gives front-line community organizations the resources and tools to provide essential services to people struggling to cope with the COVID-19 situation.

With regions across Ontario reopening and more people looking to get out to enjoy the rest of the summer, Cogeco wanted to give back to its communities and the people who worked tirelessly during the pandemic by hosting Free Drive-In Movie Nights at all drive-in theatres within its Ontario footprint.

Thanks to the support of YourTV through the Lions at Home TV Bingo, the Lions Club of North Bay was able to donate $10,000 to the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

The generous donation of $10,000 will help patients with cataracts and other vision concerns receive care close to home.

In conjunction with the Centre de services scolaire du Chemin-du-Roy, Cogeco Connexion set up outdoor games in twelve primary schools in Trois-Rivières, facilitating social distancing. These games help stimulate physical movement as well as social skills.
